WHAT IS NDA?
NDA i.e. The National Defence Academy (NDA) is the Joint
Services academy of the Indian Armed Forces. All the three services namely the Army, the Navy and
the Air Force are covered under this. Cadets are train together for all three
services before they actually posted on their respective service academies. NDA
is the first tri-service academy in the world. National Defence Academy is a
national institute that trains the selected young men for officer level entry
to join Armed forces of India. This institute prepares the candidates for
defence services. Training that is imparted to the candidates facilitates
the leaders of tomorrow to be respected
and followed. This institute takes the responsibility to polish the skills of
the cadet. The candidate who is being trained from NDA are prepared for any
kind of adversity.
NDA training is tough. Total duration of NDA training is of
3 years which is broken into six parts. Once the candidate is done with their
training they are awarded their bachelor’s degree and can go to their
respective service institutes i.e. IMA, IAF,INA
HOW TO APPLY FOR NDA
To apply for NDA exam candidate can get all the details
about NDA exam on official site
http://nda.nic.in/. NDA exam is conducted by UPSC
twice a year. Notification for the April exam appears in month of Dec/Jan and
for September exam in the months of May/June. Candidates can apply online for
the exam once notification of the exam is announced

Candidate should be aged between 16 ½ to 19 ½ yrs
in which course is due to commence.

Educational Qualification

12th Class of 10+2 with PCM as compulsory from recognized
board for Air force and Navy. Commerce and Arts students can apply for army.

Selection process includes
- Performance in the written test
- SSB Interview.
NDA EXAM PATTERN
NDA written exam is comprised of two tests. Duration of each
test is two and a half hours and both are conducted on the same day,
consecutively. Examination is set by the UPSC.
NDA exam will be objective type and Total marks in NDA exam
are 900 split up into 2 parts:

SYLLABUS OF NDA EXAM:-
Paper I (Mathematics) – Basics of Matrices and Determinants,
Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Differentiation, Integration, Statistics and
Probability, Probability etc.
Paper II (General Ability Test)
Part A English: Grammar, comprehension, vocabulary, in
extended texts to test the candidate’s proficiency in English.
Part B General Knowledge: The paper of General Knowledge
includes all the subjects: Science(Physics,
chemistry), Social Studies, Geography and Current Affairs
RESULTS OF NDA EXAMINATION
After the written exam UPSC declares the result in next 3-4
months. Result can be viewed on the UPSC website. NDA exam has become more
competitive candidates who perform well in written exam are sent the call
letters for SSB interviews. The candidate who clears SSB round also are the
final winners for NDA exam and then they are sent on training based on
vacancies available as per the merit list.
